The 1st of 3 Siemens Generators Traveled Across Ohio Last Week
If you are an everyday commuter in Ohio, chances are you saw this Superload moving through the State last week. It was the first of three Siemens Generators that will make it’s way through Ohio in route to Houston. These generators will be used on crude-oil drilling rigs.
It was pretty hard to miss as it only moved an average of five to seven miles-per-hour in most areas. The term “oversize load” is somewhat of an understatement! The gross overall dimensions are listed at 330 feet long, 15 feet – 6 inches tall, 20 feet – 4 inches wide, and 959,000 pounds. That will definitely get noticed and tie up some traffic.
The trip from Mount Vernon, OH to Belaire, OH by road is just the beginning of the journey. Once in Belaire, the load is transferred to a Goldhofer trailer where it will be walked through the town, and loaded onto a Barge in the Ohio River. It will take about 2 weeks to travel by barge to Houston. In Houston, it will be loaded onto an Overseas Cargo Ship heading to it’s final destination off the coast of Congo.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
