According to the SC&RA, these changes will allow for more effective transportation along the north and south transportation corridor from the Midwest to Gulf State ports.

Effective Now in Arkansas:

  • Arkansas has just increased the maximum allowable weight allowance on a permitted tandem-axle group combination from 40,000 to 46,000 pounds. The increase was announced by Arkansas State Transportation Officials in December that it would go into effect this month.
  • Drivers are now also allowed to carry and display their permits in electronic format. The only stipulation is that it has to be displayed on a screen that measures at least seven-inches. Carrying and displaying oversize/overweight load permits electronically will provide convenience for those drivers who use a smart phone, tablet or laptop to conduct business.

Oklahoma, Iowa, Tennessee and Nebraska are the only remaining states with a tandem maximum weight of 40,000 pounds.[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”20″ bottom_margin=”20″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””/][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”yes” shadowopacity=”1″ border=”3px” bordercolor=”#bd0000″ highlightposition=”top” content_alignment=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” modal=”” button_size=”” button_shape=”” button_type=”” buttoncolor=”” button=”” title=”ATTENTION ALL OVERSIZE HAULERS WHO RUN THROUGH TENNESSEE:” description=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””]

The SC&RA needs a list of Tennessee based customers for whom any members have moved loads for in recent years.

Tennessee Changes Coming Soon

In Tennessee, the push is on to increase the maximum allowable weight on a permitted tandem-axle group combination from 40,000 to 46,000 pounds. With the help of the SC&RA Permit Policy Committee and Tennessee State Transportation Officials, the increase could go into effect soon.

The proposal to increase was approved at the association’s January board meeting, and it now requires input from all members who move oversize/overweight loads in the state.[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”20″ bottom_margin=”20″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””/][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
